Static Stretching

Static stretching is used almost as an MOT. Contrary to popular opinion this does not need to be performed pre exercise as scientific evidence has found there is little to support the notion it guards against injury. However it does have an importance as it can indicate a tight muscle and you can avoid straining that muscle until it is repaired and ready to function again as normal.

We try where ever possible to perform stretches lying/sitting down as this keeps the pelvis and back in a far more stable position. Standing up to stretch causes 1 side of the body to assume the load to allow the other to relax and stretch so resting all the muscle groups that you can increases the benefits.
